From Passion to Profession: Poonam enjoyed designing outfits and wearing something different even whilst she was little. Her passion for fashion led her to pursue her studies in fashion designing at Career Forum, Pune. She worked with brands doing Fusionwear exports, and held her own exhibitions, which introduced her to different aspects of the apparel business.
In May 2016, she opened her store at Sacred World, Wanowrie, Pune, with an in-store unit for the cutting and finishing, and a large workshop close by. She designs a range of outfits for women from saris to lehengacholis, salwar kurtas, kurtis, gowns, dresses, skirts and trousers in different styles from casual to semi-formal, formal, party, festive and weddings.
She works with a variety of fabrics –silks that are popular for festive and wedding garments; cotton, linen and muls that are popular for the summer. The textile techniques include hand and machine embroidery, hand painting, texturing, tie and dye, shading.
As a designer, she predominantly stresses upon individualistic styling. Pune being a pot-pourri of cultures invites clients from everywhere, and Poonam’s easy on designing helps her craft pieces to everyone’s liking.
Walk into her store and you will be pleased to see designs there for every kind of woman. From someone who loves prints, to others who love bling or some others with a rather somber appeal. Poonam has everything from casual to occasion wear styled to suit every taste and budget.
